The School Board and Carson City School District often say that Clark County is dragging the national ranking of Nevada schools down to 50thposition. One teacher who spoke at the February 8th School Board meeting cited the US News Best High School Survey to say that Carson High School wasn’t that bad. Judge the statistics below for yourself.
In the same US News Best High School survey for 2021, Carson City High School is 27th among Nevada High Schools with 14 schools in Las Vegas, 6 schools in Reno, 4 schools in Henderson, 1 school each in Minden and Incline Village who ranked higher than Carson City High School. Reno, Galena, Robert McQueen, Damonte and Douglas County High Schools are all ranked higher than Carson High School. Is this success for you?
Self-indulgent practices and subjective performance measures has perpetuated the status quo and complacency in the School District Administration. At the February 8th School Board meeting, another teacher asked the School Board to hire an internal candidate (AJ Feuling) because “people who have been given a chance to move into positions without prior experience have excelled thus far”. Are you willing to take a chance with your chidren’s future?
School Board Trustees, namely Trustee Crossman (District 2), Trustee Carine (District 6) and Trustee Walker (District 5) selected, AJ Feuling, in the first round of interviews even though his qualifications were much less than Dr. Goldhardt’s qualifications and he had a poor interview performance (see https://sites.google.com/carson.k12.nv.us/superintendent-search/home). Hire an internal candidate by any means. Why?
Our Team of volunteers has spoken to numerous residents in the School Districts over the last 3 months and they have not found one resident who was happy with the status quo in the Carson City School Districts. So it is time to rise up and claim the schools back. We need to set the foundation for continuous improvement in our schools by hiring a qualified, experienced Superintendent, Dr. John Goldhardt.
