AB42 ~ This is a tricky bill that is so close to being a yes vote. What it does is allow for a jury trial in domestic violence cases. If it uses the federal standard of domestic violence, this bill would be ok, but it expands Nevada’s standard for domestic partnership. Why is this wrong? For example, if you had a relationship with someone twenty years ago and ran into them in a store later. Say an argument started and you just touched your prior partner asking them to leave, you could be accused of domestic violence and added to a criminal data base. This could lead to a lifetime forfeiture of your second amendment rights in Nevada. If you are moving here from Idaho and have firearms in the car and get pulled over and the officer finds the firearms in your car, you are now a felon in Nevada according to this bill. Sponsored by the Assembly committee on Judiciary. This means you have to write everyone on this.
The NRA is asking for a NO vote on AB42
AB98 ~ With this bill there will be a 25% reduction of the amount of legislation submitted and establishes firm deadlines for their submission. Tuesday March 14th at 4 PM it is up for discussion at the Assembly Legislative Operations and Elections Committee.
Please give AB98 a big YES vote.
AB110 ~ Requires lobbyists to still pay their fees when they cannot enter the legislature building. AB110 was sponsored by Jason.F[email protected] and [email protected]
Please ask them to REMOVE AB110.
AB142 ~ Enacts the Nurse Licensure Compact. This is where we join with other states that have the same standards for nurses and allows nurses to practice within the Compact without getting relicensed in every state. This removes roadblocks for nurses to come to Nevada and be of great benefit as we have a critical shortage of nurses. Sponsored by: P.K. O’Neill, Robin Titus, Jill Dickman, Jill Tolles, Joe Hardy. The Nurses union is against this bill so it will be an uphill battle to get it passed.

AB255 ~ Would restructure school districts with more than 75,000 students are enrolled. Carson City has 7,600 and Washoe has 67,000 so I assume this would only apply to Clark County, but as the slippery slope happens we need to counter this bill. It would restructure the way school boards are constructed, from purely elected officials to a mix of elected and appointed. Please email and ask them to STOP sponsorship and WITHDRAW AB255.
AJR3 ~ Sets aside 30% of water and land in Nevada for conservation purposes. It undermines private property and water rights. If you get a chance please read through this resolution, it is a good read. I could not find out if it’s just 30% of the total or 30% of private. Please let us know. Primary sponsors are: [email protected], [email protected], S[email protected], [email protected]
Please email that you oppose, ask for a NO vote on AJR3
SB98 ~ is now something we want to endorse. This adds Story County onto the Carson Water Subconservancy. It also guarantees that Carson gets a share of Lake Marlette’s water. This bill is sponsored by Jim Settelmeyer, Jim Wheeler and Pete Goicoechea.
Please ask for a YES vote on SB98.
SB108 ~ Would require any person employed by this state in the criminal justice system to have periodic training relating to implicit bias and cultural training. It doesn’t say one hour, one day or one week, so kind of open ended. There are 25 fiscal notes attached also, so I assume people are starting to add up the cost of this. Next meeting is Tuesday, March 16th @ 1:00pm Senate Judiciary.
We say NO to SB108.
SB191 ~ Would levy a 10% tax on electric vehicles and the electricity used to charge said vehicles which is a much better idea than any kind of mileage tax. Senator James Settelmeyer is the sponsor.
Please give him a shout out of SUPPORT for SB191
SJR8 ~ is on the Secretary’s desk. We have alerted you on this before. It is not an equal rights bill. It makes some more equal than others at our young woman’s expense. As you may know this is a proposal to amend the Nevada Constitution. Anything we can do to negate it, please do. Our Senators: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
